earth&sea

Super-excited about the brand new African Earth & Sea Daily Detox Masque from Shea Terra Organics! This little baby works wonders at withdrawing toxins and impurities as well as slowing down the rate of aging caused by pollutants. Did you know that your facial skin needs regular detoxing maintenance to ward off evil little free radicals, bacteria and other foreign bodies that actively attack healthy cells?

So what's the solution? >⋆>⋆> Well this daily detox mask of course!  This amazing little jar is jam-packed with detoxifying minerals collected from across Africa.

ghassool

From the Moroccan Atlas ghassool clay is gathered in its natural chip form. Rich in silicon and magnesium, ghassool clay naturally pulls toxins from the skin as it softens and purifies.

Kalahari Desert mineral salt

Next, the ancient inland salt pans of the Kalahari Desert are visited. This pristine area is abundant with mineral rich salts formed underground. This iodine free salt is rich in potassium, magnesium, sulfur and other trace elements and minerals and effectively pulls toxins from the skin.

sea kelp

Further south off the western shores of South Africa ecklonia maxima sea kelp is collected. Ecklonia maxima is one of the most preferred sources of sea kelp for stimulating plant growth. High in naturally occurring iodine and other trace elements and minerals, ecklonia maxima pulls toxins from the skin and may decrease some swelling. Also rich in alginates, amino acids, enzymes and vitamins, ecklonia maxima sea kelp helps to hydrate skin. Who would've thought..huh?!

clays

On the other side of the continent into the Indian Ocean, is the island nation of Madagascar where skin detox is a ritual affair. Often seen in beauty masks of white or yellow, the people of Madagascar apply face masks daily for flawless skin. A white clay {very different from drying kaolin or bentonite} draws impurities from the skin without causing the dryness that is common in other white clays. A green clay is also collected from this region. It contains plant and micro-algae matter in addition to a multitude of minerals, this aids in skin stimulation while absorbing impurities.

This clay comes in pure powder form. No water is added therefore no preservatives are used. The bonus is you only need one teaspoon of this super powder per mask...that just over a dollar a mask!

masklid

So I've been using this little baby probably every second day for the last almost two weeks {I know it says "daily" detox masque but really...ain't nobody got time for that!}. I try to put it on 10 minutes before my morning shower so it doesn't impact too much on my daily routine. To mix, I just pour the desired amount of powder into the lid of the container and very slowly add droplets of hot water straight from the tap until I get the desired consistency.

mask face

To get the mask on my face I use an old foundation brush to paint it on, but your fingers should work just as well. I will warn you, once on your face it totally smells like you have been slapped in the face with a wet bunch of seaweed but you know what...I weirdly like it. Makes me feel like I've taken a long dip in the ocean and we all know how amazing your skin is after that!

post mask skin

So, I have definitely noticed an improvement in my skin. It's brighter and less congested and I have virtually no blackheads. Also, I suffer normally from quite large pores and it has definitely helped with those. So all-in-all this is one face ritual I really want to keep up.
